October 18 Getting on for 1am Saturday....It's getting on for 1am Saturday...here I am!
I DID sleep some earlier on - I have to have all the wheels turning by 2am.
It's a trip up the "Willow" ( for those of you in the oil industry, or are from around here;
you will know where I mean...
I'm just reading my emails, and having a great cup of steaming hot "Green Chai Tea"
It's a bit chilly outside this morning, and I thought it might be a great way to start the day
( I am Sooooo screwed up with the days...)
But; this is the oil industry...
You work when the drilling crews, testers, engineers, consultants work...could be anytime,
any shift for any length of time....
This winter I expect to be VERY VERY busy!
There is a LOT of drilling going on around here;
but I could be anywhere within the province, or into Northern or Central BC
just depends.
Yes;
I work in a "non-traditional female role" but if you want to earn a "man's wage"
you have to be willing to work hard, under sometimes less than perfect conditions for
long periods of time -----
WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY !!!!!
So, in a little while I will pull on my coveralls ( with reflective striping) over my jeans, turtleneck & vest,
tighten up my steel toed boots, pull on my parka (again with reflective striping)
don my hard hat with fuzzy liner (making sure my ear muffs are attached to protect my ears from the noise
- I usually also wear ear plugs under the muffs as well; it gets pretty darned noisy!
pull on my gloves ( mine are like mechanics gloves)
make sure I have my H2S monitor, flashlight, safety glasses (clear ones & tinted ones for the bright morning)
grab my pack & head out....
Now don't get me wrong.....
I still will have ALL my pretty things too......
What is "Victoria's Secret" ?????????
SHE is NOT telling them what I have under the jeans etc.....
Just sexy enough to give me a little grin that I can wear all day....

   October 16 Alive & Kick'n ( did cha' miss me ?...even just a little bit?)I thought it was about time to let all know that I am indeed "Alive & Kick'n"
Another day above ground...that in its' self makes for a mighty fine day.
I was away partly due to a LOT of computer isssues...
considered checking to see if "pitching PC's for distance" was an Olympic event...
Looks like it's all back to normal now...
Ok, work wise - I completed the Hinton Pulp Mill shutdown - excellent coin!
I tired to get on full-time, but that's a monumental task.
Soooo....
It's back out to the oilfield for me!
A local company (Cham Oilfield Services) sold out to a large company ( Big Eagle) and
YES!
This little red-haired girl is back in a non-traditional role ( Like THAT'S a surprise to those
who know me!)
I NEED to make a "man's wage" since I take care of all my own bills, expenses, etc.
Therefore, I need to be able to do a man's job!!!
I was going to begin as an assistant operator, but have already received a
promotion.
After my H2S course upgrade on this Friday ( Oct.17th) I'm jumping into a truck & heading for
a CNRL lease site. I'm the glycol operator
 Wooooo Hooooo!Very good $$$ & I can basically be on overtime & double overtime all winter!!!
I want to buy a place before too long - this rental thingey sucks!
Okay...I know some of you are no doubt wondering about my love life...
errrr...uhm.... well....
Can you please explain what that is?
I've looked all over the house & I guess I don't have one!
W. & are are better friends... I'd rather keep him as a friend than nothing - he's a terrific guy!
So...to make a long story short; there are only TWO men in my life right now
(Alright YOU - stop rolling your eyes! ----- YES! You know who you are!)
There's the BIG guy - JC. (we talk at night before I sleep & I go to his house on Sunday)
then,
OF COURSE,
there's BUBBA
Bubba is pretty hairy...hairy chest, back, legs, arms, and........
YUP
He has a sizeable_ _ _ _ _
( no! there is NO "P" in the word !... Geeeezzzzz!
Are our minds rolling around somewhere in the gutter?
 He doesn't seem to mind that in the past I have awaken from a deep sleep with a bad dream crying my
eyes out, his chest/back quite tear stained...
He's the STRONG & SILENT type...
 Possibly a close cousin to BUBBA...?So you get the picture right?

Tomorrow we are off to Edmonton for a HUGE feast...
We thought it would be interesting, educational, and fun to follow the 15 days of celebrations in a traditional manner.
Yesterday was a "meat free" day...
Prior days have included not sweeping or dusting ( HEY! I could handle this some days; but HAVE to confess that I enjoy a clean and orderly house.
Today we are supposed to show kindness to dogs ( it is their birthday) So we got a treat for the neighbor's dog.
Other days we are to eat certain foods, give / receive money, give thanks to family members or praise to family who are "passed", have tea, etc...
No, either of us are from the Pacific Rim Nations; but it is a very nice peaceful time & gives time to remember to give thanks for the good things around us...

I may take pictures at the feast .... guess I will have to find out if it is bad luck to do so...
China Town in Edmonton will also have festivities that we are going to take part in...
   It has got cold again....Yikes!
When will this cold weather end???
This am it was -26C. ( NOT including the wind chill)
Those travel guides are starting to look pretty good...
We recently received some from the China National Tourist Office...
We have 2 choices at present - China (Bejing, etc. with also stops in a couple of neighboring countries such as Vietman, etc.)
But,
We also are liking the thoughts of heading to Turkey.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has recently traveled to - or live in these parts of the world.
Then again; with the temperatures in this hemisphere... there are MANY places that are looking good!
It's even toooo cold to go sledding! Although, Sunday IS looking promising...

I've got to find out who took the liberty of ramming their Black & Decker drill into my left eardrum...Dang thing hurts!!!
My throat feels like I've been "deep throating" sandpaper...
I decided to wallow in the self pity & stay in bed this morning.
 Wayne left at 7:30am as per his usual schedule & me??? I pulled the quilt up around me and drifted off.
Okay alright...
ENOUGH of the self pity, poor little ol' me thing.

 February 03 Laundry Perils & the OBVIOUS need for "Bounce" or ???When one thinks of the chore of "doing the laundry", rarely....if ever, does one associate the word PERIL with laundry...
The other day a VERY important fact was brought to my attention...
1) The absolute use of "Bounce" , "Fleecy" "Cling-Free" or???
2) Velcro & under-garments do NOT mix!!!!
I suppose that in an effort to "just get the damned wet clothes into the dryer"....I may have made a slight error in judgement...
They all DID get dried, but I got the MOST interesting phone call at my office....
You see...
Wayne wears his red ( ooppps sorry, Peking Red) Atco Pipleline coveralls over his clothes when he goes to work each day...
As noted they are bright red with the flourescent safety stripes on the back and front....there is also a velcro closure at the neck to keep out the draft.....
Aparrently the velcro has an attraction to lacey black thongs.....
On this given day, he kissed me at the door & carried his coveralls in his hand ( he had a meeting to go to before work....) When he got to the "Fish-Net Compressor Station" he lept out of his truck and "TRIED" to get into his coveralls...
He struggled to get them up...( probably cursing the damned things...)
Frustrated he yanked them down again.... he had NEVER had problems with coveralls before....WTF????
It was then and only then that he managed to retrieve one black lacey thong, thoroughly attached to the neck of his coveralls...
" UHM?????
Did any of the other guys notice???"
If they did, will they mention it?
Will they think it's mine???? ....
Dear GOD!!!! There's a lot of them to bury & the ground here is frozen !!!!!!!

"casually stick the thong into your pocket & pray that you can do it smoothly & in one nonchalant motion..."

Remember not to take any thing out of that pocket & pray that it stays tucked securely inside until you can get back to the truck....
Oh yah....remember phone her & then stop by her office and choke her with the panty....
Guess it's time for A little note for little 'ole me.......
Try to check out the laundry before it gets put away... and buy the EXTRA strength "Cling Free..."
PS: SELF: A red thong in the pocket of his coveralls would at LEAST maintain color co-ordination...
Wait until he sees what I put in his jacket pocket.........

Update time....
Last night we went out sledding...it was a full-moon, the air was crisp...and it was time to "gett'r done"
Raced across the fields, along "haul roads" through the wide ditches and more....
Many of you might of heard me scream....
The hill was STEEP & HUGE...well..........................
it was to ME!
I was sure I was going to die...the sled would tumble end over end & I would be pinned beneath it.....
WHAT TO DO????
The coaxing tones must have worked their charm...( or I should tell the truth right here...it was really Wayne...)
"come on baby...you can do it..." "Watch me...See? no problem...look; no hands...." " okay alright, I'll ride down beside you & hold your hand the whole way..." (etc....)
I took a leap of faith knowing that if need be, he would DRAG my lifeless body onto his sled & get me to emerg....( GOD please don't let him drag me BEHIND the sled....)
I think I screeched / screamed loud enough that most of the wild animals in THIS hemisphere heard me!! May have
awoken a "smokey the bear or two I bet!"
Today I was a BIT STIFF.....
We had so MUCH fresh air that we both slept in this am...didn't hear the clock, or? until we BOTH should have been on the way out the door....hmmmmm...
I don't think that corpses are that sound....

January 22 The Warm Fuzzy "all over" Feeling...Many of you KNOW me very well, and although I am a red-head; you may as well consider me blonde...
ESPECIALLY where the control of keys, their whereabouts and safe-keeping are concerned...
Lately, my second set of keys have been found lying in the snow next to my car in the am...
UHM....hmmm "anyone wanna' steal a car?"
or the "gremlins" have a way of whisking them away to parts unknown....
Leprechans???? Don't even get me started....
( HAD to be them....I don't think I'm eligible for TERMINAL BLONDNESS!!!???)
Tonight was another EPISODE....
We went off for a trip to his compressor station/office etc...
followed up by a drive into the mountains, up to a site with a beautiful view...
YUP!! It's a full moon & Romance was in the air.....
It was followed up with another drive, a trip to my condo. for errands & then home....
DAMNED Leprechans.....!!!!
After arriving back here, I reached into my pocket...car keys are here, so are his house keys....
Condo & my mailbox keys were in my pocket....
Must have pissed off the wee-little Irish fellows....
cuz' a set of 3 keys that I had only received at work a couple of hours earlier were GONE!!!!
( not that they were all THAT important!...just all the keys to get into the building, along with a fob that had the pass codes on it!!!!!Ooooooooppps!)
We retraced footsteps across 1/2 the backwoods and places in between...
NOTHING!!!!
NADA!!!!
ZIP!!!!
I can NOT believe how wonderful he was while I drove all over hell's half acre....
not one word of "how could you?" "why don't you?"... etc....
Instead, he smiled, held my hand and drove...... getting out to help me...
( I guess I should also mention that during this unsuccessful scavenger hunt, his blood sugar was crashing terribly... he smiled , holding my hand he carressed my fingers.....
WOW!!!!
PS: Still can't find my keys....gonna' have to kick some green Leprechan ass....
 footnote: my new next door neighbor found them.... Yup, in the snow.....

January 09 UPDATEYES
I am STILL on a "blog break"
But, I thought I would update those of you whom I am "close" with...
 C & I have decided to call it off.
He is just sooooo F*CKED up with all of the "fall out" from the work "situation" & all of the "baggage" associated.
Stress, $ difficulties, family issues, his maritial status, health, parents, etc......
It has all been such a stress on him that he is on meds, etc...
He feels that he is not being fair to me - I agreed, we can't see the light at the end of the tunnel either.
Then again, If we DID see that light.... at this point I think it would be a friggn' TRAIN!
The idea of having the CN logo permanently "planted" onto my face somehow does NOT appeal to me!!!
I just thought I'd pop into blog-land & update you!
PS: to my dear, dear friends ( and you KNOW who you are!) I am ok..nothing at ALL like when Howard & I split.
this time it was just a cry on Christmas day --- then again; I think it was more just memories from LOTS of years all kinda rolling up into one!
Don't worry about me...
I am doing exactly what I have to do for ME!
THIS little red-head is "looking" enjoying, planning, and taking care of me. Staying happy, healthy & up-beat!, LOVE you for worrying!

December 24 Taking a note from.... Taking a note from the posting of MizAngie (thank you) I thought I'd do some good today... Make someones' day brighter. I was at work & was told to take home a pointsetta - we had LOTS & of course they wouldn't sell after Christmas..("oooooooo... you big spenders at Christmas was the tune playing in my head at that moment)
I went to pick one out; the floral department person, she said she'd have to "toss" a whole mess of them - that's what they did last year.
Noting that the store manager had already left, I picked the assistant manager who would be the "easy target" I had a better idea of what to do with the potted plants - I tracked him down & made my pitch.
Obviously all worked out well, since I had the pleasure of hand delivering nearly a dozen HUGE potted pointsettas to the extended care ward at the hospital. The staff & some of the "residents" saw me carrying in all of the HUGE wrapped packages (the plants were so large I could only carry 2 at a time!) ALL wereTHRILLED & EXCITED at the bounty of flowers...wheelchairs rolled out....people came with their walkers, etc...
I did something good tonight...I made me feel good inside; warmed me - I walked out with a grin on my face ( 1st time I wanted to smile ALL day - welp, for the last FEW days)
Christmas is a little brighter for a bunch of older persons - many whom this would be the "CHRISTMAS CHEER" they would otherwise miss... It made me realize that although I'm alone right now... I am NOT as lonely as some....AND thanks to the Dr's I've found here; I am back on the track to having my health.
 December 22 Little White Lies...Heard this story yesterday- thought I'd share
Here goes...
I was waiting for my partner outside the dressing room door at a HUGE department store,
when an overweight young woman emerged from one of the stalls, wearing a dress at LEAST 2 sizes too small. She posed in front of the mirror & asked the salesperson how she looked.. "PERFECT, FANTASTIC" she replied
"she looks like a 3lb kielbasa in a hotdog skin!"
The customer burst into tears & retreated
Why did you do that? the salesperson said with a stern look "it was just a little white lie"
"that's wrong" I corrected her. Then I told her the sad story of Andy Smith, the man who told "little white lies"
"Just like YOU, I began, Andy thought the little white lies don't hurt anyone...
One time Andy was in the theatre - the actor on stage clutched his chest & fell to the floor. "Is there a Dr. in the house?" pleaded another actor..
Andy stood up & shouted YES! & when he got to the stage & saw the stricken actor, he smiled & said "Ufortunately, I'm not him!"
Finally...
One day Andy was flying to California - there was a commotion in the cockpit area; emerging, the flight attendant shouted " Is there anyone on board who can fly a complicated jumbo jet?
Andy couldn't help himself.. He had told SO many "little white lies" that it had become 2nd. nature to him.
When he got there, he looked at all of the complicated controls...
Well, I am SURE you can imagine what happened after that
The salesperson looked at me with newfound appreciation
"I see what you're saying is - "
"That's RIGHT" I interrupted "in the wrong hands, a little white lie can be fatal!"
"Thank you for sharing & I NOW understand why you did that" and she walked away
Moments later from somewhere deep inside the dressing rooms, I heard the salespersons voice "Are you kidding? You look like an elephant wearing a bikini"
I smiled contentedly.....

We are going to FREEZE all our "tender bits" off...
